Call it fate, call it destiny, call it what you want - to me, it was a magical happenstance. And I loved experiencing it with her every step of the way.

Several of my favorite authors -- all much more articulate than I -- have reviewed Roman Crazy, and loved it as much as I did. It's hard to follow such glowing, succinct reviews. So I'll sum it up: Roman Crazy is THE most entertaining, light-hearted, genuinely heartfelt romance I've read in a very long time. It's an ultimate reading experience for the end of summer, precisely because it lacks mind-bending twists or the deep, angsty drama of darker romances. I can only imagine what a pleasure it was to write, because I could feel the creativity, camaraderie, and genuine fun pouring off of every page. It reads like a summer vacation feels: refreshing, warm, relaxing, and simply beautiful.

The visual imagery is so stunning that the characters came to life in a setting so perfectly laid out that it feels like a virtual trip to Rome. The sights and sounds of the city; the scents of the flowers, the clay, the markets and fresh paint; the taste of the food; the fragile beauty of ancient tapestries and frescoes was all so vividly described that I lost myself in the experience. The intensity of every character's feelings - be it embarrassment, delight, anger, confusion, happiness or sexual ecstasy - were perfectly woven within the story, making the entire package powerfully real on every level.

Of course I fell in love with Marcello; you can't help but fall in love with Marcello! But I loved every quirk of every character, even Daniel, Avery's ex, because they were all so relatable and approachable. And even in its very few, slightly darker moments, there is an underlying steadiness, a seamlessness, that made the story flow effortlessly from scene to scene. Other than imagining Alice and Nina laughing their way through parts of the manuscript, there is little evidence that Roman Crazy was co-authored, because it is so tightly woven it's an artistic tapestry unto itself.

Roman Crazy is a deeply passionate love story, with touches of gentle humor; but it is so much more. It's a story of steadfast friendship, self-discovery, maturity, and awakening. It's deeply satisfying in every way. I can't wait to see what the other "Broads Abroad" come up with as the series continues, but I'd give anything to hide away in their luggage.

I love Alice Clayton - Wallbanger is in my top ten of all time. Roman Crazy was exactly what it was supposed to be...fun, sexy and romantic. This one is set in Rome, where Avery has headed to hang out with her best friend after finding her husband cheating on her with his secretary. Her first night there, she encounters Marcello, the one that got away. She and Marcello shared a hot and heavy affair in Barcelona nine years before, until she left without a word. Now, he's back and he's pissed. Things have changed for both of them, so the question is will they be able to work things out?

Of COURSE they will! It wouldn't be an Alice Clayton rom-com if they didn't! The setting always seems to play a huge role in her books, and this time is no different. What's more romantic than Rome?? Avery reconnects with her best friend as well as reawakens her passion for art, all the while surrounded by fabulous people, wonderful food, gorgeous architecture and art inspiration abounds. It's not quite the caliber of Wallbanger, but it was still a very enjoyable read.
I was so excited for this book as I love Alice Clayton. I love her books because her characters are funny and the chemistry is so great. I didn't get the same feelings with this book. The story was ok, to be honest I was a little bored throughout the book and couldn't wait to finish it. It is a nice story but I didn't get the laugh out loud that I normally do from her books and the love story was sweet but I didn't feel the love like I normally do.
Ahhh Italy, food, second chance love what is not to like? Now I must really go to Rome or another part of Italy. I must say reading Avery's travels I can relate, I go around similarly do what the locals do be adventurous. What lead her to explore and find herself again may not have been ideal way to do it but a push in the right direction. Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci as a duo works well and their writing style is smooth, likable and relatable.

Avery leaves Boston and goes to seek an respite from the drama. Her friend Daisy welcomes her, helps her immerse in a different culture. Unknowingly her paths cross with her old flame, one she didn't end on good terms with but things lingers despite the time away. Her mishaps and venturing out in the city finding her love of art is a new start for her one I hope sticks.

Marcello is what you expected of an Italian dude fiery and growly but passionate also one who loves deep and shows it. Smart and dedicated to his job, loves his family. A lover and guy full of confidence. What's not to like? At first the residual anger can't be helped but I think despite that he and Avery shared a bond during their time together one no forgotten. You can definitely feel the chemistry and tension with them, Avery finding her own footing and him helping her around the city.

With a blossoming love that has started again, a city that enamored her and job doing what she loves. Resolving her ossues back home it's a new start and new man, she may finally found her roots. Hopefully learning from the past mistakes and applying it to the present.

While relatively angst free the drama at the end made things a bit rushed to end. It'll and ends well just I felt it could have wrapped it up better. Hopefully it'll continue on since this now a series. Cause I really enjoyed Avery and her zest for things. Rome has never sounded more enticing after this. The intensive knowledge of Italian lifestyle is well done and thought out and played a role in the story. A story of finding one's self again and lots of glorious food plus sights, Roman Crazy is a light feel good kind of read that I enjoyed a lot and excited for the next.
