I admit that when I bought this book, I was skeptical that it would be as good as the first in the series, An Earl in Wolf's Clothing. The first book is one of my favorite romances, so there was a pretty high bar. However, I was happily surprised- this book is just as good as the first in the series! Emily Windsor has a knack for developing unique and vibrant characters, and the humor in her writing style makes the books enjoyable reads! I especially appreciate the realism in the happily ever after in this book- I felt that it's one of the few romance novels that created a happily ever after that felt consistent with the personalities of the characters. I can't wait for book 3!

While this book (Book 2 in the Rules of the Rogue series) could be read on its own, I recommend reading book 1 (An Earl in Wolf's Clothing) and book 1.5 (Merry Christmas, My Viscount) first since they add greater depth to the characters. The characters introduced in book 1 all eventually have their own story line over the series. Book 3 should be published soon and can't wait to read it!
The author has a good sense of plot and moving the story along so it never drags. She also has a good ear for dialogue and I found myself laughing regularly at the sparring between the lead male and female characters.
I highly recommend this book and the series as well!
I enjoyed this book so much that I went and bought the first two in the series and I'm looking forward to the next. All the characters were interesting and enjoyable. You care about all of them and makes you look forward to their stories also but it is a stand alone book.
4 1/2 stars. A very good story of romance and espionage. The characters were interesting and likable, and the mystery to solve was not easy. I especially enjoyed the humor. The discussion about proper language and what words to avoid was really funny. There were a few distracting editing errors. I will definitely read more from this author!
An entertaining but clean romance. A few spelling and grammar mistakes but those cam be remedied. Enjoyed it tremendously. Good, strong characters, intrigue, handsome H & a sharp, beautiful h & you've got a good read.
I absolutely adored the book. The author definitely has a talent for storytelling the book is well written the characters are so lifelike I really really enjoyed this book it’s the kind that makes you really feel good while you reading it the bad part is it ended but I will be getting the other books in the series she is now one of my favorite authors
Aideen’s name means “little fire” and she does not disappoint. She’s from Ireland, staying with her wonderful aunt and uncle while visiting London. She’s has met and kissed Alex, a ruthless, priggish Duke a year ago. He’s afraid to get close to anyone because he lost his sister years ago while on a dangerous government assignment. The two of them are perfect together. The dialogue was witty, the secondary characters were well written.
I agree with another reviewer in that I never expect much from a KU book, but this was a wowser.

Marvelous prose - unusual phrases and word choices, fast-paced, none of the all-too-usual annoyances, scintillating dialogue, spies, humor, excitement, straight-arrow plot, superb H, h with plenty of spine - both were very likable, lovely romance, believable, intertesting secondary characters. I could even read the few love scenes without gagging, yawning, or skimming - they were written differently than the norm.

I read this one first, got it on KU. After finishing, I bought this book as well as the others in this series. This author can write and she's a great storyteller! I'm on tenterhooks awaiting Winterbourne's story...(don't mean to rush you, Ms. Windsor. But...)

Splendid story written by an author who understands the period. Those who detest anachronisms, love the elements I've described, should enjoy this gem. I certainly did...immensely.
