WOW, just WOW!!! Donna Grant has done it again and although I am sad this amazing series has come to an end, with the exception on the holiday novella, I don't feel there was much more Donna could have done to make Midnight's Promise any better. Malcolm is a highlander in every sense of the word. I fell in love with Malcolm the first time we met him in Forbidden Highlander. Yes, it has been a love-hate relationship, but I always knew Malcolm would find his destiny and what he truly deserved in life. Deirdre took way too much for Malcolm and he was on the brink of never turning back from the dark side-- until Evie. Evangeline Walker was a druid who believes she is the only druid left in the world. She learns the hard way that she is not. It takes a man like Malcolm Monroe to set her straight. Evie is a strong woman who is determined to take on the world for Malcolm. I loved all of the twists and turns of Midnight's Promise and was shocked by some of the new details we learn in the story. It takes Evie, Malcolm and the Dragon Kings to figure out what Jason Wallace has on his side and what he plans to do with it. In the end it all comes down to one person to find their inner strength and learn what it will take to destroy Jason forever! The story that unfolds between Malcolm and Evie is wonderful, deserving and also hard for them to follow through with at times, but so worth the wait! I am truly happy for all of the characters in both the Dark Sword and Dark Warriors series and am so thankful they found what they deserved in life. Thank Donna for such an amazing series, and characters. I loved being apart of this journey and falling into your world of magic, love, druids and mostly, highland warriors!! My favorite all time series, by far!

Donna Grant brings her celebrated Dark Warriors Series to an end and it's hard for me to say goodbye. This series spanned four centuries and combined two separate series, Dark Shield and Dark Warriors. We saw each warrior fall for the druid (now) that completed him. And finally it's Malcolm' s turn.

Evangeline Walker grew up thinking she was the last druid standing. Left with an ancient necklace and a strong curiosity she does the unthinkable and posts a picture of her heritage on the Internet.. And suddenly life has insane. She is stalked by someone or something and is desperate to find a safe haven. She knows only one thing for sure....trust no one. So when she hears the stones calling her she follows the voices and finds safe haven in the darkest place of all, the deceased drought, Deidre' s lair.

Malcolm has walked an ever darker path. A personable man four hundred years ago, he was first attacked by Deidre's evil warriors and left for dead, then had his god unbound. And forced to serve Deidre... his crimes unspeakable. Malcolm is convinced that he has lost his soul. His god can't control him because he has to actually feel something before he can lose it. For centuries the only thing that mattered was his cousin Laurena. But when he scented the purity of mine magic, this time something happened. But when he followed it to the place of his darkest nightmares, nothing made sense.

Jason is alive and well and focused on destroying the warriors, convinced that no one can touch him, he is working hard to seduce Evie to change her magic to drough, evil magic. Knowing that he needs a drough and a warrior... His plans are wonderfully Machiavellian and Evie and Malcolm are continually one step behind.

Because if some choices Evie made, Malcolm is concerned about going to the warriors for help, instead he turns to the Dragon Kings...A Wonderful tie in to Ms. Grant's next series, Dark Kings. While introducing the Kings Ms. Grant does a fabulous job closing this series. A poignant good bye.. but fear not, rumour has it that we will be seeing the warriors in the King's' series. Oh I hope so!

I enjoy Donna Grant's writing and honestly recommend this book and entire series.

Midnight Promise was a fantastic read. I can truthfully say the entire series has been a tremendous delight to read and I have always rated each book as deserving more than 5 stars and then would feel that it was my favorite. Donna Grant’s writing style has left an indelible impression so as I think back I have wonderful memories of each Warrior’s individual story, the battles as they fought evil, first Dederia, then Declan and now Jason and how each were able to find their happiness. The story of Malcolm and Evie is no different, we are reminded of the progression of pain and suffering that Malcolm has gone through, that his life has not been easy, of his continuing loyalty to his cousin Larena, first before he became a Warrior, the wounds he sustained in his attempt to protect her, the scars, the lost of his arm, along with the lost of his clan, then the guilt after becoming a Warrior when he was forced by Dederia to kill his best friend Duncan to save her. He was then was thrown into the future, always feeling he didn’t belong, never feeling close to the other Warriors because of his guilt over Duncan, but still thinking of what would be best to protect Larena, now he finally meets and falls for Evie, a Druid who brings light and happiness to the darkness that he has housed in his mind, who has some very powerful magic, but at the same time only wants to use it to help others, but unfortunately she wanted by the evil Jason who has huge plans to use her and Malcolm to bring forth his malicious intent for ruling the world.
We see this series is coming to a close with the defeat of Jason and are given some insight into the direction the series will now take involving the Dragon Kings. Having read the first three short stories of the Dark Kings, I am looking forward with anticipation to this new adventure but sincerely hope that we continue to get a few updates regarding our beloved Warriors and their families. I have always and will continue to recommend reading the entire The Shields, Dark Sword, Dark Warriors and now the Dark Kings series, you won’t be disappointed.
